reflection

I wanted to thank all of you so much for writing in with your feedback to my last post. I feel so loved and supported… thank you! After listening to all of your thoughts, and many more of my own, I think I am just going to take one month off of blogging, internet reading, and being “out there”. Soak in some reflection time and refresh my senses.

Tomorrow I am starting a five-week healing course in yoga and this little break lines up perfectly with that. (Another sign from the universe, I think.)

Before my month off, I wanted to share one last thing with you: The new Emily Dickinson poster that I designed and illustrated for the Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst, Massachusetts.

This is the museum’s spring poster… and I wanted to capture the season and more of Emily’s world. Her poetry is a reflection of her, which I captured quite literally with her reflection in the water. I also thought that showing her upside down would be a good way to get people to reflect a little more on the image, giving just a small pause before the brain recognizes what it’s looking at.

And it’s the pause I want now for myself… I think this piece lines up perfectly with my little sabbatical to think, reflect and have a media detox.

Things seem to start lining up when you’re heading in the right direction…

mai sur mon Pa-lendrier 2008, c’est le mois de beesub !

un poil d’avance pour célébrer le mois de mai, mais je pars ce soir pour la corrèze, puis chartres et paris, de retour dans 10 jours… depuis paris je tenterai de scanner des bricoles, d’autant que je commence demain un drôle de projet : sketchbook month, soit un mois pour remplir un moleskine 13×21cm de 100 pages, en même temps que tout plein d’autres dessineux…

I’ll be absent for a few days… I’ll go to france, but I will try to post next week.
tomorrow is the beginning of a nice project : sketchbook month, one month to complete a moleskine 13×21cm of 100 pages, and I participate !

Cherryblossom Tour

Oookay, bevor ich mich auf den Weg gen Süden mache, habe ich noch eine Runde mit Victoria gedreht und diese grandiose Rosaheit entdeckt, die ich eben noch teilen muss. Aber jetzt bin ich weg. Wirklich.

Before going to Munic I went on a short bike tour with Victoria and found this pink amazingness, which I needed to share before I’m really taking a short break.

This is part of a commission work I’m doing at the moment (highly enjoyable). It’s so nice to draw trees and get paid doing it!

More to come tomorrow, even though I will leave Sweden for a very short stint abroad. Why not listen to Giles Peterson at the BBC, he and GI culture helped me with the inspiration while drawing the trees.
